Melissa aims to capture the colorful secret lives that we all know our pets lead. They are a creative collaboration between the artist and you, the client, to ensure that your vision comes to life. All paintings are acrylic on high quality cotton stretched canvas, with an invisible varnish to protect against aging and fading. The edges come painted so they can hang directly on the wall.
In order to get started, you'll need to submit several photos of the animal's face, which are roughly eye level with him. Since animals are tough to photograph, it's OK to just send a bunch to Melissa and she'll sift through them to find the ones that work. You'll also need a theme for the painting in mind, but if you need a little help coming up with something, the artist can help! You will receive a couple progress shots throughout, and final approval before the painting is turned over to you. The turnaround time is roughly six weeks, but if you need it by a specific date within that time frame, consult with the artist to see if she can make it happen for you.
Q:Do I get to choose the theme?
A:The answer is that you can have as much or as little input as the want. I just need a clear direction.
Q:What do you need to create the artwork?
A: I need a few very clear photos of the pet, and at least one needs to be roughly eye level. People often buy the paintings as gifts and cannot necessarily choose the photos available, so I encourage them to send me lot and I'll sift through them
Q: How long will the artwork take to be completed?
A: Typical turnaround is 3-5 weeks from the time I receive all the information I need and. Busy times should be no different. My cut off for Christmas paintings is November 15th. I have a rush option (see below) but is not available until after Christmas.
