Frequently Asked Questions for Private Dog Walks:
Q: What is included in a dog walk visit?
A: Each visit is 30 minutes long. Aside from the walk, the dog walker will feed your pet per your instructions as well as clean and refresh the water dish. The remaining time is spent playing or snuggling with your pet, depending on your pet's personality.
Q: Do you offer anything other than the 30 minute dog walking visits?
A: We do not offer anything shorter than the 30 minute service, but we do offer longer visits.
Q: How early should I book for dog walking?
A: In most cases, a week ahead is fine. We can sometimes find last minute walkers if you are suddenly called out of town. However, the shorter the notice, the less likely it is you will be able to reserve a dog walker. Also, holidays fill up fast, so book early to reserve a spot! More time is also needed for special-needs pets and pets that require medication.
Q: Who does the dog walking for Petcetera?
A: Petcetera has a network of dog walkers in locations throughout New Orleans.
Q: Will I get to meet the dog walker ahead of time?
A: Yes! You will certainly be able to meet and interview the dog walker ahead of time to make sure that it's a good fit for you and your pup.
Q: Will the dog walker live in my neighborhood?
A: We do our best to select walkers that live and/or work close to the pets that they care for. There are cases where your walker may live in a different neighborhood, especially during busy times, or in cases when a pet requires medication. Please let us know if it important to you that your walker live nearby, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Q: Can I choose then the dog walker will visit?
A: Unless there is medication involved, Petcetera cannot guarantee an exact visit time. Our walkers have busy schedules, so we ask that they be permitted a certain amount of flexibility. We can offer visit time windows:
- Morning is 8 AM to 11 AM
- Afternoon is 11 AM to 4 PM
- Evening is 4 PM to 8 PM
Q: Can your walkers administer medication?
A: Most of our walkers can administer medications. Our areas of experience range from liquid oral medication and pills, to topical medicines. Please let us know about any medications when booking your dog walking services.
Q: Do you charge for medication administration?
A: Most medications are an additional $5 per visit. A more involved medication regimen may involve additional fees. Please let us know the full extent of your pet's routine when booking so we can quote an accurate price.
Q: Do you have special holiday or weekend rates?
A: Our standard dog walking rates stay the same, 365 days a year! However, we do encourage people to tip their walkers, especially during the holidays
Q: Do you offer discounts for extended trips?
A: We do not offer discounts for extended trips due to each visit requiring the same time commitment and quality care. We don't want to short change our dog walkers!
Q: When do the visits occur?
A: Most visits occur between 8 AM and 8 PM, depending on an individual walker's schedule.
Q: Can I request the same dog walker each time I travel?
A:Of course! We will always try to accommodate specific walker requests, although sometimes it is not possible due to scheduling conflicts.
Q: How do I schedule dog walking when I need it in the future?
A: Please schedule dog walking through the site at any time, or by phone. If time is short and you want to make sure your favorite walker is available, contact the store directly.
Q: What if my dates change?
A: If your travel dates change, simply send an email to the store or call so that we can make the appropriate changes to the schedule.
Q: What if I need to cancel?
A: If you need to cancel dog walking services, you must call the store or send an email. Cancellation charges may apply during the major holidays if we do not receive advance notice.
Q: Can I check on my pet while I am away?
A: Of course! We understand what it's like to leave our fur babies behind when we travel. Just ask your walker and he or she will be happy to send updates via text or email.
Q: Are you insured and bonded?
A: Petcetera is fully insured and bonded.
